Headteacher Message

Welcome to Ovingham CE First School website.

We hope that it offers you lots of useful information about our school, whether you have children already enrolled here, or are looking around for a suitable school for your child.

We pride ourselves on being a happy, caring, friendly school, with very high standards of attainment and behaviour, together with an ethos in which every child is valued and nurtured.  Indeed, I firmly believe that unless you and your child are happy with the school you have chosen, then good learning will not take place.

Our Ofsted report of June 2012 (see the link for the full report) rated us as 'outstanding' in every category - something which is very difficult to achieve.

We are justly proud of this achievement.  However, our Church Ofsted (SIAS - dated 18th September 2012) not only rated as outstanding as a church school, but went on to describe how distinctive we are as a school.  It described the very essence of our school community which makes it a very special place to learn and work.

'The school, through its distinctive Christian character, is outstanding at meeting the needs of all learners

The school's embedded Christian character is reflected in the exceptional relationships which exist at all levels.  All children flourish, are happy, and make excellent educational progress at this fully inclusive school, talking openly, enthusiastically and confidently about its special nature, the importance of prayer, care for one another, and the joy they have for school life and learning.  Attitudes to learning and growing are excellent.  Pupils are enthusiastic and motivated to achieve.  Their behaviour is first-rate.  The majority of pupils reach levels of attainment which are consistently above those expected for their age, as confirmed by Ofsted in 2012.'

Please feel free to make an appointment to look round school should you be considering sending your child to us.  It is always very good to see a school whilst it is working so you can see the excellent atmosphere for yourself.
