Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to to Class One! Here, you will find all the information you need about our class at Ovingham C of E First School.
Please send your child’s school diary in every day. These can be used to pass messages on between home and school and also records the books which children have read.
Reading books will be changed every Monday and Thursday. Your child will receive 2 books when they are changed. One will be matched to their phonics level and aims to boost fluency when reading aloud. The other is a book which the children have chosen from our library and these may need to be read by an adult. We really encourage reading at home and are proud of the enjoyment our class take in reading.
Children are to bring their bottles in on a Monday and keep them in school all week. They can take them home again on a Friday to be washed over the weekend.
We are fortunate to have beautiful grounds at Ovingham CE First School and we use them at every possible opportunity, whatever the weather! We ask that children have a pair of wellies or sturdy outdoor shoes that are kept in school for these occasions.
We are very lucky to have our Wednesday PE session delivered by the NUFC Foundation. We also have a short PE session on a Friday afternoon. For these sessions, children need their PE kits which should be a white t-shirt and black shorts or jogging pants with plimsolls for indoors and trainers for outdoors. Children should bring their PE kits on a Monday and take them home on a Friday.
Last year we started our Forest School lessons which the children really enjoyed! This year, children will have a forest school sessions once every half term. On these days, children can come into schools dressed in outdoor clothes and must have a sturdy pair of shoes and coat too as we will be outside whatever the weather. We will confirm these dates closer to the time.
